Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the product lines assigned to achieve the profit and growth goals per annual and long-term plan.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Work with personal lines business partners, Business Intelligence, and other areas within Grange to track, monitor, measure (through metrics), analyze, provide insights, and make recommendations to support the effectiveness and success of business initiatives, programs, projects, and business operations.
- Participate in corporate and personal lines business initiatives. Identify, evaluate, recommend, and communicate business insights with limited oversight and analysis necessary to achieve objectives that will ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coordinate and maintain rate revision and filing initiatives with a focus on business goals, profitability, and growth:
- Supports the rate review process, working with pricing and the state product managers to provide analysis during the rate review process. Assists in the development of rate proposals.
- Implement product/price changes providing details of all aspects of the change to the business analyst. Make necessary form changes and be the product expert and go to person for other departments as they work on the product change. File changes with the department of insurance and follow-up with the filing until it is approved with guidance from product partners.
- Maintain and revise Personal lines product manuals and be responsible for their content with limited oversight. Revise manuals to support product changes and rate revisions.
- Complete and submit product filings, as required, with each Department of Insurance to support changes.
- Assists to coordinate, implement, and communicate all product/pricing changes for a line of business with impacted departments, groups, associates, and agents. Includes internal and external communication and training, as necessary.
- Support product management with competitive insights and analysis:
- Research competitor rating plans and filings, comparing our rates to those of our competitors, providing insights from findings, and recommending changes as needed.
- Track and monitor PL product metrics and trends pertaining to competitors and the market. Participate in the analysis and development of product management recommendations.
- Work with PL Management on various business areas to address data and analytical needs:
- Identify and recommend improvements and efficiencies within our data and analysis.
- Understand our current data sources, applications, tools, and technologies.
- Work with business partners (Emerging Tech, Data Science, Research and Development, Operational Excellence) to implement improvements and/or tools & technologies.
Bachelor's degree preferred; a concentration in Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Economics is preferred. Outstanding problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills are a necessity. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written required. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) including advanced proficiency with MS Excel required. Familiarity and exposure with statistical, programming, and database management systems and applications, such as SAS, Python, R, and SQL-based tools preferred.
