Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree or three (3) years managing a medium size hospital or clinic related project; plus five(5) Years working within a project team.

Advanced degree may be used in lieu of years of experience on a year for year basis

Job Duties

  • Provide the leadership framework for planning, directing, coordinating and improving projects that are responsive to the needs of University of Texas Southwestern Hospitals.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel; identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools; track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project,
  • Assumes project hand-offs from Health System Planning team for all approved and funded clinical projects involving major medical equipment purchases, new construction, and/or renovation of existing clinical facilities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, budget preparation and business plans within Health systems.
  • Undertake special projects at the request of the executive leadership
  • Coordinates and manages expectations of multi-disciplinary project stakeholders (Physicians, Clinical staff, Physical Plant, Budgeting, senior management, Interior Design Committee, Health System Planning, etc.
  • Manages the clinical projects for both the Ambulatory Practice and University Hospitals to ensure that the project budget and target schedule are met.
  • Assist in cost consolidation, product standardization and supply chain initiatives.
  • Ensure all regulatory and compliance standards are met.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

O Strong skill set or knowledge in healthcare related medical equipment.

O Works with minimal supervision.

O Adept at learning on job as well as teaching and mentoring others.

O Has basic understanding and skills related to general electromechanical systems and devices.

O Has basic understanding of operations and environments supported such as hospital, clinic, etc.

O Has general knowledge in assigned clinical environment.

O Has basic understanding of common clinical terminology and that of life sciences such as anatomy and physiology.

O Is knowledgeable about both local and national public safety and regulatory issues.

O Can successfully support solutions of organization-level customer service issues and complaints, especially those that apply to area of specialty.

O Has basic knowledge of general medical surgical equipment.

O Has working knowledge of clinical equipment such as radiological, laboratory, and networked medical systems.

O Has strong knowledge in medical equipment planning, procurement, and project scheduling.

O Prior experience with activating hospitals, clinics, or outpatient facilities (preferred).

O Basic knowledge of state procurement processes and procedures preferred.

O Has strong knowledge of project management terminology and methodology.

O Has strong understanding in construction related planning, this includes schematic design, design development, and construction documents.

O Must have the ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical site specific drawings.
