Summary

The Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) leads the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in the design, development, delivery, and deployment of state-of-the-art technology and solutions in order to provide a seamless, unified Veteran experience. OI&T provides strategy and technical direction, guidance, and policy to ensure that IT resources are acquired and managed for the Department in compliance with appropriate laws, policies, and standards.



Duties

Physical Demands: The work is sedentary and is normally performed in an office setting. The work often requires long hours to meet deadlines and to devise corrective action and solutions to unexpected technical and/or management crises resulting in sometimes highly stressful work situations. The work requires almost constant use of a video display terminal.

Applicants selected for this position may be required to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period. Failure to successfully complete the supervisory probationary period will result in the employee being reassigned to a position in the agency of no lower grade and pay than the one the employee left to accept the supervisory or managerial position.

Major Duties:
  • Independently applies initiative and judgment in developing, evaluating, improving and communicating status regarding policy and planning efforts.
  • Oversee technical implementation services for all national IT projects in addition to regional projects.
  • Develop and monitor meaningful performance metrics used to evaluate the accomplishment of IT organizational goals and objectives and is responsible for operational metrics reporting.
  • Oversee and report on compliance with ITOPS Service Level Agreement (SLA) management. Develop methods to monitor and measure risk, compliance, and assurance efforts
  • Provide technical and administrative supervision to employees in a variety of occupations. Plans and directs the overall work through subordinate supervisors, team leaders, or comparable positions.
  • Lead development of strategic and tactical planning of organizational goals, objectives, and initiatives as well as business process transformation initiatives.
