Description
The Small Commercial (SC) Market Analytics team within US Retail Markets is seeking an Actuary to perform quantitative analyses of state-specific non-rate initiatives. This position will work closely with SC State Product leaders and other teams within SC Risk Analytics to identify and evaluate the efficiency of potential actions. This position will play a key role in quarterly planning cycles, computing topline and bottomline impacts appropriate to different contexts and use cases. The successful candidate will possess excellent project management, strategic thinking, and communication skills, as well as advanced technical skills and ability to influence.

**This role may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.**

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with the State Product team on timelines, necessary inputs, and materiality thresholds for proposed non-rate initiatives.
  • Work with State Product, Finance, and other teams within SC Risk Analytics to compute topline and bottomline impacts in the appropriate contexts.
  • Coordinate BME (Book Mix Equivalent) inputs from various sources across SC Risk Analytics to produce a consolidated view for Finance's topline planning.
  • Calculate (or oversee less experienced analysts in calculating) state loss ratio relativities to support bottomline planning.
  • Be a point person for stakeholders' questions about Plan inputs and outputs with respect to rate & BME, including leaders within State Product and SC Risk Analytics.
  • Perform (or oversee less experienced analysts in performing) various ad hoc analyses.
  • Provide support for presentations related to rate & BME in plans and forecasts.
  • Continually improve upon tools and processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS) designation preferred or comparable education/designation with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience required.
  • Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
  • Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.) with ability to build complex models.
