SUMMARY

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of LS-DYNA and related software products. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives. To be considered for this position, successful candidates must have an in-depth understanding of finite element method and related computational mechanics principles, strong programming skills, adequate academic or industrial experience in the related fields, and ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems
  • Understands and employs best practices
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of professional experience, or Master's Degree in Aerospace, Biomechanical, Mechanical Engineering, or other natural science discipline
  • Working experience with technical software development proven by academic, research, or industry projects. Good understanding and skills in programming

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree or PhD Preferred
  • Technical knowledge and experience with finite element simulation (e.g. LS-DYNA, Ansys), and CAD modeling.
  • Background in computational solid mechanics, numerical methods, and preferably on high-performance computing on C/GPUs.
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics, electromagnetics, computational geometry, or computer graphics is an advantage but not a must.
  • Experience with Fortran or C.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
