ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:
- For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California, additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).
POSITION SUMMARY:
The individual in this position is responsible for a wide variety of inventory, purchasing, and reporting functions. Responsibilities include planning and issuing purchase orders, expediting orders, corresponding with vendors (intercompany and 3rd Party) as well as shipping agents, and other related duties that may be assigned from time to time. The position requires someone with strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a wide range of individuals.
This position manages the day-to-day tactical Purchasing activities within Shimadzu. The individual in the role will be directly responsible for inventory planning, placing purchase orders, material expediting, and managing orders until they are physically and systematically received.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Plan Orders for Raw Material using inventory reports and MRP system (daily)
- Place Purchase Orders into ERP system and with vendors. (daily)
- Update ERP system with PO changes (price, qty etc.) (daily)
- Manage orders to international vendors and ensure they are paid at the correct currencies and exchange rates (daily)
- Expedite Items when needed to fulfill customer orders
- Enter and maintain Item Master purchasing information either manually or using batch upload. (daily)
- Coordinate with material management to ensure all orders are closed correctly (daily)
- Resolve discrepant material issues with supplying vendors for accuracy and quality. (daily)
- Assist with Fleet Vehicle Administration. (daily)
- Take direction from system reports, forecasting and Master Scheduler/Planner
- Create New Vendor accounts as necessary
- Coordinate with internal sales, marketing and service groups to communicate and action any supply concerns.
SCOPE:
This position's focus is to ensure all company purchase orders are placed in a timely manner, and consistently follow up with vendors/internal stakeholders to make sure all material arrives on time and is received as expected.

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent is required to act independent of supervision in routine matters governed by either policy or established procedure. The incumbent must be flexible and able to solve questions and problems using sound judgment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred along with experience in purchasing/inventory planning or the equivalent combination.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires occasional lifting (or by other means for movement) of boxes and parts. Physical demands may include bending; stooping, squatting, standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time and pulling/pushing of parts can also be expected. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 20 pounds throughout the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards. Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices are required as stated by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is based in an office area that requires regular and predictable attendance. It will involve working alone on projects and collaborating as part of team. Incumbent may work at different workstations during the day and travel to regional locations in order to support the purchasing/inventory planning needs of all company employees. Extra hours may periodically be required, in order to fulfill the functions required by this position. The position will include contact with all SSI employees and requires prompt and friendly handling of all related inquires.
