Please review the following job description:

Engage with Business Unit leadership in its management of risks and controls as well as its execution of risk program requirements. Execute, facilitate and/or monitor execution of Risk Program requirements (e.g., RCSA, KRIs, etc.) within the Business Unit. Provide risk advice and influence to assigned Business Unit. Aggregate, integrate, correlate and report risks for assigned Business Unit. Identify and opine on remediation to address weaknesses related to inadequate or failed processes, people, and systems, or external events and ensure effective remediation.

  1. Provide risk advice, serve as the Risk Subject Matter Expert (SME), and lead execution of all risk type enhancements to promote and strengthen compliance with applicable regulations, policies, procedures and risk program requirements for all assigned Business Units.
  2. Partner with first and second line defense teammates across assigned business areas in identifying, escalating and in remediating risk control gaps to ensure compliance with Enterprise Risk Management programs and policy.
  3. Partner with the Business Unit to self-identify risk control weaknesses. Execute on the remediation efforts to adequately resolve the issue.
  4. Aggregate, report and communicate risk results to inform teammate stakeholders of the existing risk environment and escalate material concerns to Business Unit leaders and committees.
  5. Identify, monitor & report on emerging risks potentially impactful to Business Unit partners and Truist. Implement and execute processes and procedures necessary to ensure Business Unit compliance with enterprise risk monitoring requirements.
  6. Oversee risk appetite and business risk strategy ensuring adherence to defined limits. Effort includes risk identification, risk acceptance and risk prioritization and execution of risk mitigation of current and emerging risks.
  7. Understand Business Unit goals, provide risk management expertise in strategic projects and seek engagement from appropriate Subject Matter Experts (SME's) and Governance and Controls Office (GCO) partners for guidance and input. Lead risk-related efforts in partnership with the Business Unit.
  8. Manage, update, monitor and track controls, including those aligned to SOX and regulatory requirements. Partner with Business Unit to ensure effective execution of controls.
  9. Foster a spirit of continuous improvement and execute on efforts to refine and/or enhance Business Unit and GCO processes as necessary.
  10. Other activities and special projects, as deemed required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field, or equivalent education and related training
  2. 8+ years of experience in a financial institution with emphasis on risk management or equivalent work experience and training
  3. Strong knowledge of SOX and other industry-related regulatory requirements.
  4. Strong knowledge of operational and other non-financial risks.
  5. Ability to assess levels of adherence/execution and identify risk/control improvement opportunities in risk management principles/controls, broad based business practices, and Business Unit activities/processes.
  6. Strong written and verbal skills
  7. Solid problem solving skills in complex environments
  8. Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to operate without close supervision; Capable of handling multiple projects concurrently
  9. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
  10. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Finance or Business, or equivalent education and related training
  2. Audit experience
  3. Strong knowledge in field of assigned business unit(s)
  4. FINRA Series 7, 24, 53, and 66 licenses (Series 9 & 10 can be used in lieu of 53. Series 63 & 65 can be used in lieu of Series 66).
  5. Professional designation related to risk management or field of assigned business unit(s).
  6. Strong knowledge in field of assigned business unit(s).
  7. Knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems.
