Job Description

  1. Labor Relations Management:
  2. Act as the primary liaison between the museum and union representatives, fostering open communication and collaborative relationships.
  3. Lead negotiations for collective bargaining agreements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and legal requirements.
  4. Stay abreast of labor laws and regulations, advising senior leadership on potential implications and necessary actions.
  5. Employee Relations Oversight:
  6. Oversee end-to-end employee relations investigations, ensuring thoroughness, impartiality, and adherence to legal standards.
  7. Provide guidance and support to HR team members conducting investigations, offering insights and recommendations for resolution.
  8. Develop and implement strategies to proactively address employee relations issues, promoting a culture of trust and transparency.
  9. Policy Development and Compliance:
  10. Collaborate with legal counsel to review and update employee policies, ensuring compliance with labor laws and industry standards.
  11. Develop training programs and resources for managers and employees on relevant policies and procedures, fostering understanding and compliance.
  12. Performance Management:
  13. Partner with department heads to address performance issues, providing guidance on performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions as needed.
  14. Support the implementation of fair and effective performance management processes, promoting professional growth and development.
  15. Strategic Planning and Implementation:
  16. Contribute to the development of HR strategies and initiatives, aligning with organizational objectives and priorities.
  17. Participate in cross-functional teams and committees to address broader organizational challenges and opportunities.

    The Successful Applicant

  18. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in employee and labor relations, with a focus on unionized environments.Demonstrated expertise in negotiating collective bargaining agreements and resolving complex labor disputes.Strong understanding of labor laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.Experience working in a non-profit or cultural institution preferred.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
