Job Description:

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) ) seeks candidates for a visiting faculty position in the Department of Engineering Education and Leadership (EEL, ) in the College of Engineering (COEng). This position will support the design and delivery of the College of Engineering's new first-year engineering experience program. This new program aims to support incoming students in their transition into the university, build their sense of belonging in engineering, and equip them with foundational skills and knowledge to succeed in their future careers. Though this position and the program are housed in the EEL department, the program serves the entire college, preparing all future UTEP Engineers. This position is expected to last two years, beginning in mid-August of 2024, with the potential to become a permanent non-tenure track position.

The successful candidate will collaborate with UTEP engineering faculty and staff to further build the COEng first-year engineering program. Candidates with a proven track record in facilitating learning in engineering at the college level are specifically encouraged to apply. Candidates should expect to teach five sections of the FYE course with the support of graduate and undergraduate TAs.

The EEL department emphasizes innovative teaching with an entrepreneurial perspective that thrives in an active, student-centered learning environment; most of our courses are co-taught and project-based. Therefore, the candidate's experiences beyond a Ph.D. in engineering or related fields are pertinent to this position and should be discussed in the application materials; these might include experience with leadership, business, start-ups, social-benefit organizations, a complementary profession, and many more.
