BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Proposal / RFI team is responsible for responding to Commercial RFI, RFP, RFQ, etc. in support of sales. As the team Manager, your responsibilities include leading a proposal team in the preparation and submission of customer-centric, winning proposals. This team develops the messaging of MSC's value proposition to customers through RFI and proposal content. Responsibilities include the introduction, implementation, and maintenance of content, including process and governance. Collaboration with marketing, operations, business development, and other cross-functional teams is necessary for strategic alignment. The Proposal / RFI Manager supports information and deal flow and will drive improvements in productivity, processes, and system / tool updates and changes. They will focus on commercial growth by supporting frontline sales associates and will monitor effectiveness through quantitative measurements and regular operating rigor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the proposal process to include integrating subject matter experts and other associates into the appropriate areas and assimilating information into a narrative that follows the RFP/RFI and proactive proposal instructions.

Ensures proposals are customer-centric:

o Shares understanding of customer needs in the executive summary and RFP cover letter.

o Ensure responses center around and address customer benefits and goals.

o Provide references, case studies, and data that illustrates the results the prospective customer can expect.

Leads the structure, description, and governance of information assets to improve efficiency, promote transparency, and enable business insight.

Establishes and manages effective performance management metrics in support of achieving the team's goals and objectives.

Continuously optimizes Proposal and RFI processes to enhance productivity with the goal of improving decision quality, reducing cycle time, and improving efficiencies to increase support to the Sales Team

Builds, leads, and develops a team of professionals, elevating performance, providing effective mentoring and coaching, and fostering a positive environment of collaboration and professional growth.

Participates where necessary in a Subject Matter Expert (SME) role for Commercial Operations on cross functional initiatives by providing leadership and guidance to ensure operational success.

Ensure delivery of compliant, professionally produced proposals within customer defined timeframes.

Oversee Design and maintenance of Content Library / Proposal Automation Solution

Ensure templates, proposals and presentations follow company branding policies and guidelines.

Ensure proposals are compliant with corporate and legal policies.

Enforce editorial policies and guidelines. Oversee the RFP response knowledge base, track RFP data and win rates.

Provide insight, leadership, and work guidance to authors on all proposal content.

Take ownership of the quality of the proposal and final delivery by performing rigorous quality assurance checks on draft and final documents.

Ensure high-quality content and appearance of final proposal deliverables.

Assumes the role of a Proposal Writer when demand dictates the need for additional resources.

Conduct and document proposal lessons learned and implement actions to improve process efficiency.

Performs all duties inherent in the role of MSC Manager including hiring, termination, review, and development of associates.

Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.

Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

What You Need:

Bachelor's degree in marketing communications or related field

Minimum 3 years proven successful experience leading proposal teams efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment on moderate- to high-complexity opportunities.

Minimum 5 years' experience copywriting in a proposal or marketing communications capacity for B2B

Minimum 3 years' experience in graphics design, copy layout, presentation development for B2B.

Strong leadership, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills

Strong coaching and team building abilities

Process oriented with Lean mindset

Expert English writing, grammar, and punctuation skills

Customer-focused thinking and ability to capture brand voice

Ability to adapt to various people and working styles under tight deadlines

Advanced MS Word and PowerPoint skills, proficient in MS Office

Bonus Points If You Have:

APMP Bid/Proposal Practitioner (CP APMP) Certification or better preferred.

Experience with Challenger sales model and methodology preferred.

Proficient Adobe InDesign skills

Experienced user of Content Management systems and Salesforce

Other Requirements:

A valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time may be required.

Compensation starting at $ $120000 depending on experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities.
