Job Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to help the lab make progress toward its experimental goals. This work will focus on understanding the interaction between host immune cells and epithelial cells in the context of health and diseases. The goal is to identify a crucial signaling network that modulates host immune response based on epithelial inputs. This work will rely on both in vitro human and murine organoid models as well as in vivo mouse models. The RA will provide technical assistance to other laboratory members as well as lead their research under the supervision of the PI. They will be expected to maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to scientific communications including regular presentation of data as well as publications of the results in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will assist in training undergrads in the supporting actions.

Job Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related science.

Required: Basic knowledge of laboratory approaches and techniques in the areas of molecular biology and cell culture.

Experience within the field of Immunology and microbiome is a plus.

Some familiarity working with mice is advantageous.

Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Competencies.
Must be willing and able to work with infectious organisms.

Writing is an integral part of the research process and as a result strong written communication skills are critical for success in this position.

Must be willing and able to provide technical support to laboratory personnel.

Must be willing and able to work with human specimens

Must be willing and able to occasionally work a flexible schedule (e.g., weeknights and weekends) to accommodate the timing of experiments.

Strong technical and organizational skills to maintain and organize laboratory research activities.

Must interact positively with other laboratory personnel, with members of the University community, and with outside vendors.

Dependability, productivity, and self-motivation are necessary assets as well as the desire and ability to think critically and solve problems.

This position frequently communicates to faculty and staff who inquire about their research. Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
