Location: Plymouth, MN - Hybrid
What you will do:
- The Senior SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the overall SQL Server environment. Responsible for implementation, configuration, security, administration, maintenance, and performance of SQL Server systems, as well as ensuring the availability and performance of enterprise applications
- Maintain SQL database objects and perform database capacity planning, data modeling, data loads, troubleshooting, database backup and recovery and support applications.
- Develop and execute long-term SQL database strategy and roadmap, including technology refresh, cloud adoption, move to PaaS solution. Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product life-cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
- SQL Database Design and Implementation: Develop and implement robust SQL server database architecture designs, incorporating best practices for high availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization. Design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure SQL solutions on the hosting and PaaS platform
- Level 3 Support: Level 3 escalation for SQL database server. Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
- Ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
- Automation and Orchestration: Drive automation initiatives using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks. Implement CI/CD and DevOps model for Infrastructure as a code. Script automation
- Manage database structures by monitoring and adjusting the internal structures (tuning) as required
- Defines, establishes and performs regular backups of databases
- Involvement in planning, designing, creating, installing, customization, upgrades and maintaining of databases to meet defined requirements
- Perform upgrades of the database and software to new release levels
- Documents databases and deployed applications. Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and provide training to team members as needed.
- Perform Database Security implementation and documentation
- Create and maintain reports and forms
- Ensure databases are compliant with applicable STIGS
- Perform other duties as required
- Participate in on-call duties on rotational basis
- Participate as member of a project team and deliver infrastructure components according to requirements and timelines, including self-management of small technology projects

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration
- Hands-on experience with cloud automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell
- Experience managing vulnerability remediation programs in a medium to large environment
- Experience designing and managing virtual infrastructure solutions in a medium to large environment
- Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration
- DevOps and CI/CD, Site Reliability Engineering experience
- Relevant professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
