Job Description:
Responsible for leading the design, development, testing, certification, and delivery activities for contact and contactless chip technologies, mobile payments, and other emerging technology-based solutions for card acceptance devices, as well as payment devices. Manages areas of development of the product technology such as specifications development, including functional features and security features, testing requirements, testing capabilities, certification requirements, and certification program design. Manages relationships with vendors, such as card and chip manufacturers, test laboratories, test tool providers, and mobile application developers, to enable support for the payment products. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
The individual will be accountable for developing and maintaining the test program for functional testing of the emerging payment technologies. The individual will engage in strategic discussions on roadmaps and timelines to enable Discover products. The individual will work with various industry players such as terminal manufacturers, card and mobile applet/SDK developers, test tool developers, test labs, supporting their certification efforts. relationships and engage in strategic discussions on roadmaps and timelines to enable Discover's EMV and Digital products. The role will also be accountable for development and implementation of test plan and tool development strategy and processes for D-PAS emerging products, support type approval team for day-to-day operations, communication to internal and external stakeholders on project status, prioritization, and process improvements.
Responsibilities

  • Manages, designs, and develops Test strategy, test requirements and test program for new payment technologies for card acceptance devices and payment devices (such as contact and contactless chip, mobile and cloud-based payments, etc.) and ensure the test strategies and requirements are aligned with industry standards.
  • Be innovative and provide continuous improvements for test programs.
  • Participates and contributes to Industry body working groups, Communicates, collaborates with stakeholders about new and updated standards and specifications.
  • Creates and maintains testing requirements and test procedures for new payment technology-based products.
  • Develops certification requirements and compliance program for new payment technology-based products.
  • Manages participation of development in payment specifications within relevant standardization organizations. Communicates, educates, and collaborates with stakeholders about new and updated standards and specifications.
  • Manages vendors and external partners to ensure delivery of the best quality services to Discover.

Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in Payment Technology R&D, or related field
  • In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in Payment Technology R&D, or related field

Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we'd also look for:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience working with EMV payments systems, mobile payment technologies including cloud-based payments and secure elements.
  • Deep understanding of EMV Functional requirements (2 + Experience)
  • Having knowledge of EMV Security requirements would be an added advantage.
  • Ability to drive process, project, and results by influencing and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to present strategy and influence partners for product adoption.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to think out of the box and find alternate options to resolve issues.
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $88,500.00 to $149, Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
