Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Health and Human Performance
Job Description:
Norwich University seeks a full-time faculty member in the Department of Health and Human Performance who can diversify the areas of expertise within the department, and who can create innovative and authentic learning experiences in and out of the classroom. The Department is home to the Master of Athletic Training program plus three undergraduate majors: Exercise Science, Health Science, and Physical Education. To complement recent CAAHEP accreditation of the exercise science program, we are also looking to support emerging programs in Health Sciences at the university. Successful candidates will be eligible for appointment at the rank of either Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Lecturer (non-tenure-track).
Primary responsibilities include teaching current courses at the undergraduate level in the Exercise Science and Health Science programs. Other duties may include academic advising, departmental service, and engaging in scholarship/professional development in support of the programs' mission. Successful candidates will support programmatic goals in accordance with regulatory guidelines set forth by the accrediting body for the program(s) they serve. We are looking for the right candidate to start in either the fall 2024 or spring 2025 semester.
Requirements:
Appointment at the Assistant Professor level requires a terminal degree in a relevant exercise science or health science-related discipline.
Appointment at the Lecturer level requires a Master's degree in a relevant exercise science or health science-related discipline.
The successful candidates will demonstrate professional development resulting in the expertise and ability to teach courses within at least (and ideally more than) one of the following disciplines: nutrition, health science research methods, epidemiology, emergency care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching effectively at the undergraduate level.
Demonstrated experience in instructing, nutrition, health science research methods, epidemiology, emergency care and/or teaching foundation-level health/wellness courses, and/or healthcare career-preparation courses.
Experience and/or demonstrated interest in mentoring student research.
Interest and ability to engage in clinical/professional practice, and/or applied research, with communities on or near the Norwich University Campus.
Position will remain open until filled.
