Generate:Biomedicines was founded in 2018 by Flagship Pioneering and has received nearly $700 million in funding, providing the resources to rapidly scale the organization. The Company has offices in Somerville and Andover, Massachusetts with over 300 employees.
The Role:
Generate:Biomedicines is seeking an exceptional and highly motivated scientist with deep expertise in cancer biology to support the development of immune-oncology programs. We are searching for a candidate with experience in development of protein-based therapeutics in oncology applications. We are seeking creative, curious, and resourceful team members who operate at the frontiers of engineering, biology, and drug discovery. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for designing and executing in vitro experiments that test therapeutic hypotheses, screening molecules and delivering data packages that will have an impact on pipeline progress. This role requires a strong interest in bench work, practical lab experience and ability to work in a fast-paced matrix team environment. This position provides an opportunity to develop AI based next generation biologic therapeutics in a well-funded biotech startup. The candidate will have a substantial impact on the future success of Generate's pipeline of biomedicines.
Here's how you will contribute:
- Design and Execution of cell-based co-culture killing assays using human primary PBMC or T cells to support the validation of Generate's proprietary multispecific molecules using flow cytometry, luminescence-based assays, Incucyte, ELISA/AlphaLISA
- Analyze data and present results at regular internal and external research meetings
- Contribute to robust data packages from in vitro assays to facilitate key project decisions by delivering data in a timely manner
- Collaborate in a diverse cross-functional team, partner closely with Automation, Computer and Protein Sciences, High throughput screening teams in a matrix and fast evolving environment
- Keep up to date with relevant literature
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Ph.D. degree in Cancer Biology, immunology, immuno-oncology (or related field) and 0-2 year's experience (industry experience is preferred)
- Technical expertise in cell culture, FACS, flow cytometry analysis, secreted cytokine analysis, cell line engineering, and data analysis are highly desirable
- Diverse background knowledge in biochemistry, chemistry, machine learning, cell therapy is highly desirable
- Experience in the design, establishment and validation of assays involving antibodies or other functional proteins is highly desirable
- Proven track record of contributing to advancing projects
- High-throughput (HTS) library screening experience desired but not required
- In vivo mouse pharmacology study experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to work in a dynamic, creative and fast-paced environment required
- Strong collaboration and communication skills required
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work independently in a startup environment while contributing to collaborative culture required
