Productivity Coordinator

Job Description Summary

Responsible for understanding day to day operations, measurable and controllable items to include budgets assigned for labor efficiency, supplies, tooling, maintenance, OEE, FTQ and scrap. Working closely with HR to support personnel placement within a union environment. Responsible for generation of presentations to explain operations, performance, and status of action items.

Job Description

  • Fully understands the concepts of Lean Manufacturing Process (Including Harris Red, Green, and Blue books).
  • Value Stream Mapping - Using data measured from the shop floor, plan a future state and generate an action item list that will deliver results, eliminating waste in the system.
  • Administrative Value Stream Mapping - Find opportunities to eliminate waste from the often "harder-to-see" administrative processes within a facility.
  • 5S/Workplace Organization - Reduce waste and cost by implementing visual controls to organize the workplace, sending clear/simple signals to team members, reducing inventory, and increasing work flow, quality and safety.
  • Quick Changeover - Change tooling and fixtures quickly and efficiently allowing smaller batch sizes more frequent changes, quicker customer response time, and better machine utilization.
  • Cellular/Flow Manufacturing - Link and balance manufacturing operations to reduce lead times, minimize work in process, optimize floor space.
  • Pull/Kanban Systems - Control shop floor inventory and production scheduling by implementing pull systems. Develop a visually driven, employee controlled material replenishment system.
  • Total Preventive Maintenance - Implement the system to maintain machines and equipment at peak productivity. The system should increase equipment effectiveness and avoid production interruptions.
  • Lean Culture - Prepare others by providing practical examples, demonstrations, and the knowledge to make associates lean practitioners.
  • Kaizen Event Facilitation - Small group activity focused on waste elimination in a work cell or process. A driven 2 - 5 day event aimed at achieving a specific objective such as reducing a setup.
  • Facilities Layout - Arrange departments and equipment to improve material flow. Combines the use of analytic tools and computer software to evaluate and restructure the manufacturing environment.
  • Equipment Selection - Modernize processes through selecting and implementing the most cost efficient manufacturing equipment and machinery to meet Lean objectives.
  • Regular contact with others outside the work group and business team which will require a high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Completed Bachelors Degree (focus in an engineering discipline preferred), or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment, overseeing machining department.
  • Experience crafting presentations to report operations, performance, and status of action items to leadership.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and materials processes.
