National Account Manager

  • Play a key role in developing and executing the sales strategies in large Mass and/or Club retail accounts.
  • Support the development of strategy and sales plans with other National accounts in accordance with corporate goals.
  • Manage and build relationship with the accounts Merchant Teams to deliver annual sales and profit targets and establish short and long-term sales goals for all retail products.
  • Provide P&L oversight for accounts to maximize profitability by growing top line sales and managing selling expenses.
  • Develop annual sales and marketing plans with Executive Commercial Director and create and execute annual promotional plans for pet product assortment with customer.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Brand Marketing to help define go to market strategies from product concept to product launch through analysis and research to meet customer needs.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and develop strategies that position brands as category leaders.
  • In collaboration with Demand Planning, create annual forecast and provide monthly updates and inputs to allow for on-time, in-full delivery.
  • Advise marketing on market demand and insights, promotional opportunities to inform future campaign ideas, incentives, and offers.
  • Support and collaborate with Brand Protection and Marketing to remedy problems.
  • Communicate with other departments within the organization to foster teamwork and effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of CPG sales experience in large Mass and Club retail account management.
  • Commercial awareness, marketing, and sales background
  • In depth understanding of developing and executing sales & marketing strategies, plans and campaigns.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills - experience analyzing syndicated data to measure performance and inform decision making.
  • Actively prepare and communicate business unit KPI's to the executive team and other business units.
  • Working knowledge of retail contracts and understanding Terms and Conditions by which everyday business is conducted.
  • Pet category experience or CPG experience required.
  • Domestic travel 5%-10%
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Education and Experience:

bachelor's degree or equivalent in business or sales/marketing related discipline, with a minimum of five years related experience and/or training.
