Job Description:
The Bellarmine University Music Department seeks applicants to serve as an Adjunct Faculty member in Applied Low Brass.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Teaching students applied low brass lessons. The instructor will work with all registered students to find a day and time for their weekly lessons.
Attending rehearsals, student juries, student department recitals, convocations, performance classes, student recital performances, faculty or guest artist recitals, master classes, competitions, student auditions, weekly rehearsals and performances of ensembles as needed, and support for studio and/or other academic courses.
The position may require some evening and weekend availability for student recitals and other performances.
Duties

Deliver instruction:

Conduct assigned lessons
Prepare lessons
Provide course syllabus, which shall include grading standards, attendance policies, classroom behavior expectations, course outline, and contact information
Verify student enrollment and submit grades
Evaluate student progress
Keep accurate record of student performance
Provide students with timely, constructive feedback
Maintain office hours
Maintain voicemail and email communication
Refer students to student support services when necessary
Other duties as assigned that pertain to the job description

Requirements:
A master's degree in music performance with a concentration in trombone or other low brass instrument, doctorate preferred.
Bachelor's degree in music, experience performing professionally, and private lesson teaching experience.
Ability to communicate with and teach students at all levels of musicianship.
College teaching experience preferred.
Commitment to the university's and music department's mission.
Commitment to meeting the academic needs of all students. Classical training with experience teaching and performing in additional genres (e.g., commercial, jazz, etc.).
