What we need

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Cell Engineering team within our Hardware Engineering org. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for working on the creation, modification and improvements of robotic equipment used in warehouse automation in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

What we do

You will work as a member of the team in the conceptualization, design, analysis, fabrication and testing of Symbotic's automated material handling equipment.

What you'll do

Create and design 3D machinery, tailor-made sets, and subsets. Lead project managers or other designers as required. Provide technical support to the production of projects for which he is responsible. Develop and modify tools and equipment devices of robotic cells. Visit customers to retrieve data. Prepare purchase requisitions for equipment or special components. Search for products and components, contact suppliers. Lead in the commissioning of equipment and participate in fabrication & assembly tasks. Participate in the elaboration of maintenance & operations manuals. Supervise, elaborates, defines and plans work from relatively clear objectives. Guides colleagues in their designing of parts, mechanisms, weldments, and industrial structures Provides professional advice and supervision. When necessary, involves more senior engineers. Elaborates and documents test procedures for prototype validation. Supervise the work of others and ensure the respect of department standards. Plays a key role in improvement initiatives with guidance from experts. Validate critical mechanical components. Contact potentially critical suppliers for specifications, cost, and availability. Oversee design reviews and escalate to experts when required. Identify and migrate the broader implications of design decisions. Ensure a homogenous understanding of design intent across disciplines (electrical, controls, robotics, and vision). Coach and develop less experienced team members. Perform all other related tasks. What you'll need BS in Mechanical Engineering discipline or any other equivalent experience. Minimum 8 years of work experience in a hands-on Mechanical engineering or design role Pertinent experience in the robotics industry or other relevant field. Knowledge of SolidWorks. AutoCAD, other CAD software and FEA are assets. PLM experience a plus. Expert in design and drafting standards. Strong understanding of fabrication processes (turning, milling, welding, etc.). Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Work, Outlook). Autonomy and ability to manage priorities. Ability to resolve and analyze problems. Leadership and customer centered approach. Team player skills, with discipline and concerned for quality. Flexibility to work under pressure and in an environment where priorities change. Up to 10% travel may be required. Our environment Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
