Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer

The Principal Engineer for Mechanical Systems will be a vital contributor to specialized Industrial HVAC/R initiatives. This role encompasses the complete design/build project lifecycle, including on-site engineering assistance for the implementation of commercial split systems and industrial refrigeration solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute significantly to bid and proposal development in collaboration with the Sales department.
• Conduct system calculations, including but not limited to: system load assessments, ammonia relief vent systems and valves, ammonia charge calculations, etc.
• Create P&ID's, flow diagrams, equipment schedules, and specifications for refrigeration systems.
• Evaluate engineering drawings and designs to confirm compliance with established specifications, project scope, and client standards.
• Assist in generating 2D and 3D CAD/BIM drawings and documentation from sketches, existing designs, equipment shop drawings, and standard details for refrigeration, HVAC, piping, and control systems.
• Support the production of precise 'As-Built' drawings from field mark-ups upon project completion and review drawings created by other engineering staff.
• Execute heat transfer and thermodynamic analyses related to the sizing and selection of refrigeration equipment, pipe dimensions, and control valves.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers to foster their professional development.
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with substantial experience in industrial HVAC design and construction, particularly with plant chillers. A minimum of 10 years of experience with industrial refrigeration/HVAC systems, particularly ammonia systems, is preferred, or at least 5 years in HVAC design/build with a Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more of the Northeastern states.
