POSITION DUTIES

The Alcohol and Drug Licensed Clinical Counselor, Supervisor�provides administrative and clinical supervision, and leadership to the substance use disorder treatment staff who are responsible for providing sustance use disorder treatment services, including those who are dually diagnosed. This work includes the following duties:\r

Supervise and evaluate the work of addiction counselors, to include client record reviews and monitor the administration of treatment services. Insure compliance with COMAR standards for substance abuse treatment. Provide corrective recommendations for improving skills in the administration of substance abuse counseling services\r

Assign tasks to addiction counselors related to data collection, reports, and the administration of substance abuse services\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
Conduct meetings to review and revise procedures for substance abuse assessments and counseling interventions\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
Establish and regularly monitor quality assurance to ensure proper treatment services and compliance with COMAR standards for substance abuse treatment\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
Assist the Director of Substance Abuse Treatment Services in the implementation of regional substance abuse services that comply with the department's strategy for providing services\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
Review clinical files to ensure completed documentation within the required timeframe\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
Conduct performance reviews for addiction counselors twice yearly in accordance with State personnel policies and procedures\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
Maintain contact with internal and external resources such as community based addiction providers in support of providing aftercare services\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
Maintain approval by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapist to supervise alcohol and drug counselors\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
Participate in continued professional development through educational training.\r
\r
\r
\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations , candidates placed in this classification must be�licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists, as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor or as a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug on or before September 30, 2008. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with an Alcohol and Drug Approved Supervisor Letter; or Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical with an Alcohol and Drug Approved Supervisor Letter.�\r
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.� Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.��\r

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates must possess graded courses in management and supervision as defined by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration (ADAA), Maryland State Department of Health.� This training must be approved by ADAA.� Inquiries concerning this training must be addressed to the Office of Education and Training for Addiction Services, 55 Wade Avenue, Catonsville, Maryland� 21228.\r
2. Employees are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations , Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. \r
