Pest Control Supervisor Position Summary

This position oversees Pest Control operations which provides 24/7 service to the University. The position coordinates, oversees, and performs duties with the Pest Control team such as inspect, assess, reduce, eliminate, and control pests in and around all University facilities, grounds, and other areas according to procedures and regulations while practicing under an Integrated Pest management program. This position will record and maintain records, communicate all essential functions as they relate to Integrated Pest Management while providing exceptional customer service to our MSU community and the public. Additionally, this position will perform other duties associated with services provided by the department and will require the ability to a flexible schedule including weekend coverage and overtime.

This position trains and evaluates employees; plans staffing and time schedules; enforces departmental and University rules; ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; resolves employee complaints and grievances; prepares forms and records to maintain working inventory; responds to emergencies, inquiries, and complaints from faculty, students, tenants, and the public; inspects and assesses problems, damage, and condition of pest control needs to facilitate pest mitigation and maintain safety standards.

Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training such as that acquired in one year of college, technical, vocational, trade or business school with coursework in Human Resources, Communication or Business; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in industrial, institutional, structural, and health-related pest management or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience, and one to three years supervisory experience. Expert knowledge of the detection, identification, control, and eradication of rodents, insects, and vermin is necessary. Willingness to work a flexible shift. May have to report and/or advise after-hours, weekends and/or holidays; possession of a valid Michigan Pesticide Applicators Certification – General Pest Management (7A) and Wood Destroying Organisms Management (7B); possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license; must meet MSU safe driving standards and drive a university vehicle to perform job duties of this classification; Must clear 'Youth Program Criminal Background Check'; frequent lifting of 26 to 50 pounds and occasional lifting to 75 pounds. Desired Qualifications

Experience in pest management servicing a variety of public areas including, but not limited to, living, commercial kitchen/food storage, and market animal spaces. Experience with inventory control and hazardous materials regulations. Experience working in a large, complex organization; knowledge of mechanical systems and electrical systems in a building. Possess strong computer skills including daily use of mobile devices for collecting data/record keeping, database software, and Microsoft Office. Experience with work order management systems (such as Planon or a Facilities Asset Management Software), and EBS (such as SAP and Kuali). Experience in data analytics with the ability to present operational enhancements to the manager. Excellent customer relations/service skills; ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously as an effective member of a team; ability to present concepts strategies to various audiences; solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task yet give attention to detail with frequent interruptions; aptitude and willingness to learn new processes, software and data analysis tools and methodology.
