AARP's Community, State and National Affairs (CSN) Group includes Government Relations, Programs, Volunteer Engagement, Community Outreach and Advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. It delivers on AARP's social mission by educating and engaging people 50-plus and their families, strengthening communities, and championing issues that help give people financial and health security.

AARP Programs Caregiving & Health team is seeking a qualified, post-graduate level intern to join the team in 2024. You must be motivated, energetic, and willing to collaborate with the team to help them achieve their goals and support the over 48 million family caregivers in the US who need help caring for their loved ones. As an intern, you will gain valuable work experience and have an opportunity to expand your knowledge of our programs and operations. In this internship, you will build your resume while gaining first-hand knowledge of how the nation's largest non-profit organization works, develops, and conveys its programs and messages to the 100 million older Americans AARP serves.

Responsibilities

This internship includes but is not limited to supporting communications, operations, research, and other duties. As an intern, you will gain valuable work experience and have an opportunity to expand your knowledge of our programs and operations.

Responsibilities Include:
Work closely with the staff in the Programs department to support the VP and team with timely operational, instructional design, communications, marketing, and research projects Prepare materials utilizing PowerPoint, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets Track project performance metrics and prepare monthly and quarterly reports Maintain confidentiality of all AARP's internal information Gather research and compile information on a variety of topics. This could include online searches, reviewing publications, handling databases, and accessing library materials
Qualifications

Prospective interns must be enrolled in a post-graduate degree program at an accredited college or university as a graduate or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship Must be a self-starter and adaptable with the ability to work under tight deadlines Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
