BAE Systems in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to support the Integrated Survivability Solutions (ISS) product line, in the Countermeasures & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions business area. As an industry leader in EO/IR and RF technologies, ISS is dedicated to advancing multi-platform detection, tracking and defeat of incoming threats to support aircraft, ground vehicle and maritime survivability.

In this role, you will: Lead a team of software developers working software implementation for our state-of-the-art threat detection solutions to include the 2-Color Advanced Warning System (2CAWS) and the AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) products.Design, develop, and test complex software and tools for EO/IR technologies.Evaluate complex software designs to identify design flaws.Ensure effective communication between assigned engineers and all other participants in the design process.Use existing processes and evolve processes to utilize the most effective new techniques as they become available, assuring the use of methodologies which minimize both design cost and product cost.Participate in external project interactions with customers and other companies.Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Test engineers in one or more phases of the program including: Project Planning, Requirements Development, Design, Development, Integration and TestWho you are:You thrive in a collaborative team environment and enjoy hearing differing perspectives.You enjoy working with others to solve hard problems and mentor junior engineers.You take pride in delivering quality in everything you do.Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, and minimum of 8 years work experience or equivalent experienceEligible to obtain a DOD Security ClearanceHigh-level language proficiency in C++Extensive background in embedded and/or application software development in one or more: C++, Python, Java, AdaFoundation in Object-Oriented design and implementation principlesExperience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and toolsExperience performing software testing, validation, and verification activitiesPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills Experience with Real-time Embedded Software DevelopmentExperience with Agile Development and DevSecOpsExperience developing Linux and Windows Operating SystemsExperience or willingness to code in Ada and PythonExperience using software tools like Jira, Confluence BitBucket, GitlabExperience with Containers including Docker, Podman or KubernetesSoftware automated test development and executionSoftware modeling experienceSoftware algorithm developmentSoftware Leadership experienceExposure to managing cost and schedule of software projectsPlease note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $195700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
