Want to transform how Alexa makes life easier and more enjoyable? The Alexa Daily Essentials team is seeking a Senior User Experience Designer to create experiences that leverage the power of Alexa on Echo devices with screens, mobile apps (Alexa App), and other devices.

This role will be focused on Home Productivity Essentials, improving how Alexa helps customers manage their daily household habits and activities - from calendar, timers, and alarms, to staying on top news topics and meal planning.


You will work side-by-side with conversation designers, user researchers, product, and engineering to identify, define, and implement solutions that raise the bar on the Alexa customer experience.

You must excel at communicating your designs effectively to the larger team and driving that vision into solid design deliverables.

We're looking for people who are passionate about innovating on behalf of customers, demonstrate a high degree of ownership, and want to have fun while they make history.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create worldclass, usercentered designs through consideration of market research, business requirements, customer feedback, and usability study findings
  • Demonstrate leadership in driving design processes into the organization that help refine strategy.
  • Translate business requirements into use cases and highlevel customer experience requirements.
  • Design the architecture, interface, and interaction flow of voice experiences, mobile applications, and embedded screens.
  • Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, and prototypes
  • Develop and maintain detailed userinterface specifications
  • Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and leadership for review and feedback.
  • Work with our usability and data science teams to assess and optimize new and existing features.
  • Develop high level, longterm strategy for Alexa Home Productivity products.
  • Collaborate with other design team members on Alexa Domain experiences, frameworks, process, and best practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of design experience
  • Have an available online portfolio
  • Bachelor's degree in design, humancomputer interaction (HCI), design or equivalent professional experience
  • High proficiency in a variety of design and prototype tools such as Sketch, Invision, Figma, Framer, Azure, and the Adobe Creative Suite; command of technologies (web, Android, iOS, etc.)
  • Experience in conducting user research or in partnership with a UX Researcher
  • Experience crafting designs for voice interfaces is ideal, but not required. A strong interest in voice technology is a must.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of professional work experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar UXrelated role, on consumer products
  • An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating usercentered design solutions and UI design expertise
  • Experience crafting designs for devices with natural language input
  • Ability to extract complex concepts and quickly turn around rigorous flows and mockups reflecting a range of options
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multitask in an agile environment A proven track record of insight based strategy leadership
  • Visual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guides
  • Deep understanding and leadership on driving design culture into organizations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
