Software QA Engineers test code at the user level, with focus on automation.

Our QA Engineers use black box, gray box, and white box testing techniques; they are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and use our automation frameworks to develop automated tests.

Software QA Engineers work with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementation.

Software QA Engineers also work with groups such as Product Management, User Experience Design, and Customer Support to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and test suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests.

Software QA Engineers are also responsible for driving the software development process toward quality-centric methodologies.

Key job responsibilities

Test Planning and Execution:
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for new features and product releases.

Bug Identification and Resolution:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, document, and resolve software defects.

Automation Scripting:
Develop and maintain automated test scripts to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Collaboration:

Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure a seamless integration of quality throughout the development lifecycle.


Continuous Improvement:
Actively participate in retrospectives and contribute to process improvements to enhance overall product quality.

About the team

The Alexa Voice QA team in Fire TV Experience is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of Alexa Video platforms and features for Alexa customers.

Video Domain team is responsible for video providers and consumers to leverage the power of Alexa to deliver world class entertainment experiences.

We work with partners both internal and external to provide world class test infrastructure, tools and support in delivering best Alexa Video experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
  • Knowledge of QA methodology and tools
  • Handson experience in automation development with Perl/Python/JavaScript
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements.
  • Experience with automation first mechanisms, TDD or BDD.
  • Strong organizational skills, tracking multiple test executions simultaneously and are able to synthesize the results
  • Shows creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness
  • Comfortable communicating crossfunctionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $102,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
