Job Summary
Prepare specimens and aid in the instruction of first-year veterinary students in the laboratory portion of the Gross Anatomy module of Structure and Function I, II, and III.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Preparation of specimens, creating and maintaining models for use by the instructional staff to review material to use on exams. This includes euthanizing and embalming horses, cattle, and goats for students and the instructional staff to dissect
  • Attend lectures, aid in the laboratory instruction of the Gross Anatomy module of Structure and Function I, II, and III; provide guidance to students in and outside class regarding how to perform their dissections; aid in exam preparation, proctor exams, and support of the veterinary curriculum

    Additional Physical Demands
    Allergies to hay, straw, or animal dander may cause discomfort based on the location withing the College of Veterinary Medicine.
    Minimum Qualifications

    BS in Biology, Animal Science, or related field and a minimum of two semesters (nine months) of experience working in an academic or research laboratory (including experience obtained as a student).

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience handling large animals (small and large ruminants and horses), prior experience in anatomy instruction and anatomical specimen preparation, and experience in a team setting.
    Appointment Information

    This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6/17/2024. The minimum salary for this position is $46,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
