About the Team:

The Undersea Systems and Acoustics (USA) Group in the STR Sensors Division develops and delivers advanced undersea sensor and signal processing systems centered around intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and counter-ISR. Our applications range from detection and classification problems to acoustic warfare and protection analogous to electronic warfare. Our systems range from advanced algorithms leveraging high performance computing to low size, weight, and power (SWAP) distributed uncrewed systems supporting real-time embedded processing. Using modeling and simulation, experimental campaigns, and prototyping coupled with testing that progresses through bench-top, tank, lake, and at-sea demonstrations, we mature innovative concepts into prototypes and fielded systems to address critical defense needs with agility, persistence, and scale.

The Role:

The primary role of this position is to be responsible for key contributions in integrating and testing distributed uncrewed undersea signal processing systems, including managing of integration and test sequences. There will be significant emphasis on mechanical / ocean engineering. Strong hands-on experience integrating, testing, and troubleshooting integrated electro-mechanical systems or a willingness to learn such leveraging related technical experience is expected. While no prior management experience is required, an interest in, a concentration in, or a degree in engineering management is a plus. Given we value a collaborative work environment, the ideal candidate would also be multi-disciplinary and be adaptive to changing demands while exhibiting a willingness to function in supporting roles in all domains. Further, supporting centralized documentation and data quality assurances tasks is central to success in our collaborative team, especially through test events .

What you will do:

Example tasks would include:

Test/Test Support

  • Coordinate customers, partners, and support organizations to establish a comprehensive test agenda
  • Plan and organize large scale field tests across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Synthesize salient test outcomes and assemble tailored briefings to maintain company leadership and customers aware of key program progress milestones

Management

  • Support program management planning activities such as sprint planning, roadmap development, etc.
  • Coordinate customers, partners, and support organizations to execute integration and test activities
  • Manage procurement requests supportive of integration activities (working with vendors to necessary parts, securing quotes, sequencing delivery and integration schedules)

Hardware/Electrical

  • Integrate custom circuit board components bringing multiple integrated circuits together into a single, compact circuit with troubleshooting and testing at each level
  • Develop and execute plans to integrate circuit boards with mechanical packaging (including water tight pressure vessels), wiring harnesses, and power systems
  • Design and execute plans to utilize common test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, data acquisition systems, etc.) to characterize and asses integrated electro-mechanical systems.

Software/DevOps

  • Coordinate with software development teams on software impacts to system while integrating undersea signal processing systems
  • Develop, execute, and maintain data analysis scripts in high-level languages (Matlab, python, etc.)

Who you are:

This position requires an active Security Clearance, with eligibility to support special access programs, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline (having a concentration in, a dual major, or a degree in engineering management is a plus)
  • Hands-on experience integrating and testing uncrewed systems or sensor systems
  • Experience with tool suites such as Atlassian (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
