Job Description

Bonner LEAD Fellows Program Manager oversees the Bonner LEAD programas well as public leadership development of other Augsburg students in order to strategically foster connections between campus and community and to cultivate Augsburg's culture of civic agency and engagement. The Bonner LEAD Fellows Program is a four-year, leadership program for undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and are highly motivated to do substantial community engagement. Bonner LEAD Fellows complete hours of service per week during the school year and some summers, along with significant training and enrichment activities. The Bonner LEAD Fellows Program rests on six Common Commitments: civic engagement, community building, diversity, international perspective, social justice, and spiritual exploration.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide overall vision, leadership and direction for the Bonner LEAD Fellows Program.
  • Design, facilitate and assess the educational model and structure for Bonner LEAD Fellows including bi-weekly meetings that foster leadership, critical reflection and other skills for the Bonner Leaders that align with the Bonner developmental model.
  • Supervise, mentor and advise Bonner Leaders, including a structured one-on-one meeting with each student at least once per semester.
  • Monitor students' hours and other program requirements and direct the process for reviewing the status of students who are not meeting those requirements.
  • Recruit and select new Bonner LEAD Fellows working with a student selection committee and stakeholders in Admissions and Financial Aid.
  • Maintain relations with the Bonner Foundation including completion of reports and information requests and regular participation in Bonner network conferences and activities.
  • Market and promote the Bonner LEAD Fellows Program and other leadership development opportunities. Develop outreach and program materials to communicate with potential and current Bonner Leaders and program alumni.
  • Manage the Bonner LEAD Fellows program budget to ensure spending is within the guidelines of the Bonner Foundation and Augsburg University.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to foster strong connections that help build capacity for both Augsburg students and community partners.
  • Develop and facilitate campus-wide workshops on community organizing and public action that are available to all students.
  • Participate in other activities of the Sabo Center and the University as a whole.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Track and promote community engagement opportunities (organizing, service-learning, community-based research opportunities and alternative service breaks) available to all students.
  • Plan and lead periodic service trips and retreats involving travel to other locations.
  • Engage with faculty to create connections among student courses and Bonner experiences.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and two (2) years of similar or related experience.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience; preferably working in higher education engagement programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to produce written reports, respond to large numbers of emails, and effectively facilitate group exercises and meetings.
  • Respect for student leadership, and the ability to develop and work with students as leaders.
  • Higher education work experience.
  • Previous experience with the Bonner program, personal involvement with community service, and/or experience with nonprofit management, volunteer supervision or program administration.
  • Familiarity with the methods and goals of experiential education.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.
