What will I do in this position if hired?


In this position, you will ensure the administration of floodplain management and insurance mitigation programs and plans to support individuals and communities affected by disasters.

You will exercise a broad range of managerial authorities and responsibilities for all professional and support staff of the branch in planning and executing mitigation programs.


Typical assignments include:
Serving as a liaison between the Mitigation Division Director, Regional Administrator and headquarters leadership.
Advising headquarters leadership on floodplain management and insurance matters affecting or impacting the Region.
Providing guidance to the Mitigation Division Director on policy, programs, operations, and administrative matters.

Plan, assign and review work accomplished by subordinates, evaluate work performance and provide advice on both work and administrative matters.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.

All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
