Overview

About ITT:

ITT is an industrial manufacturer of critical, engineered components that serve fast-growing end markets in transportation, flow, energy, aerospace and defense. The company's differentiation is sustained through a combination of several factors: execution, the quality of its leadership and our DNA as an engineering leader. We have a clear purpose as an organization: to provide our customers with cutting-edge solutions to help solve their most critical needs.

The company generated 2023 revenues of $3.3 billion and is comprised of three distinct segments:

  • Motion Technologies ($1.5B revenue) is a global leader in brake pads, shock absorbers and sealing solutions for the automotive and rail markets
  • Industrial Process ($1.1B revenue) is a global leader in centrifugal and twin-screw pumps for the chemical, energy, mining and industrial markets
  • Connect & Control Technologies ($0.7B) is a niche player in harsh environment connectors and control components in critical applications for the aerospace, defense and industrial markets.

ITT is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut with over 10,000 employees in more than 35 countries and sales in approximately 125 countries.

As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, you are an integral part of the ECS (Environmental Control System) Product Team. You directly participate in projects involving the design and development of composite and metallic structures, ducting, fluid and thermal control systems, acoustic control, and a variety of stand-alone and integrated heaters for numerous applications.

You generate product concepts and designs, tooling designs, drawings, and Parts Lists based on customer data, loads, performance requirements, material applicability and environmental constraint. You lead and ensure the progress of assigned projects; develop designs, data, specifications, processes, and reports throughout the product development process; and present at technical reviews.

  • Work seamlessly with other departments to develop prototypes and products that can be transitioned to production.
  • Perform design and analysis to meet internal and customer requirements.
  • Design tooling and fixtures as needed to produce designs consistently and economically.
  • Support resolution of technical problems in the lab or in the production line.
  • Support evaluation and resolution of escapes and field issues reported by customers.
  • Generate parts lists and digital bills of material — including sub-assemblies, fasteners, tooling, and hardware — accurately based on design requirements.
  • Develop procedures for parts and systems, such as Acceptance Test Procedures, Qualification Test Procedures and Reports, Qualification by Analysis & Similarity Reports, etc.
  • Generate 3D models and 2D drawings of parts and assemblies using both ANSI and ASME Y14 geometric dimensioning & tolerancing and other best practices

Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent field with 8+ years of experience in an engineering design and development environment.
  • Ample experience with design of mechanical components/systems made of advanced composites, elastomers, and metals (e.g., ECS components, ducts, multi-layer panels).
  • Familiarity with aerospace composite and metal manufacturing methods and best practices.
  • A self-driven individual with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Able and willing to methodically share knowledge with other team members.
  • Proficient in CAD modeling and engineering drawings using SolidWorks and/or Catia.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desired Capabilities:

  • Experience with project engineering and technical leadership.
  • Familiarity with RTCA/DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards.
