Job Description

Within Electrification and System Drives (ESD), our ambition is to be the preferred decarbonization partner in Marine, Electrification, and Heavy Industries. North America is a Danfoss Drives "Must Win" region and the ESD Division is one of four divisions playing a lead role in its growth journey.

Within ESD Division, there are four respective Business Units: Marine, Electrification, Medium Voltage, and System Drives. These business units are mapped to support functions in Supply Chain, Portfolio, Strategy, Finance, Human Resources, and Geographic Sales Regions as the foundation of ESD.

The Technical Opportunity Manager plays a key role within this team. The Technical Opportunity manager focuses on large projects and key customers as they select, source and startup their Heavy Industry, Marine, and Electrification applications. Their goal is to walk alongside OEM's & integrators through the selection, quoting and delivery of their projects. Further, they network with key sales, aftermarket services and applications teams as a central contact point for our customer needs. These can include coordinating support globally as many projects may end up in different countries or regions. Alongside this, they engage with local global and regional team members to support and develop strategies and provide feedback based on lessons learned.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following.

Provide consistent specialty support of Heavy Industry, Marine, and Electrification applications.
Support Configure to Order + (CTO+) and Engineer to Order (ETO) activities across all verticals; HVAC, Water, F&B, Heavy Industry, Marine, Energy and Power for key customers.
Active involvement with business development activities to drive sales growth in all NAM channels for Electrification projects
Have a strong partnership with global teams to ensure consistent offering both locally and internationally, including providing input for pricing, marketing, strategy, and future product releases
Coordinating training and networking meetings (in person/online) for Marine & Electrification products and applications as required.
Key tasks
Engage as a neutral opportunity manager to support sales team on key must win projects, with a special focus on new projects and onboarding of new System integrators and OEM's.
Opportunity decision making based on strategic focus areas, specification review and product fit (go/no-go)
Partner with product marketing & management to help set consistent pricing, advocate for product updates and new products, stock and business cases as required.
Organize Center of Excellence (COE) resources to support opportunities & customers, noting that multiple resources may be required to meet project needs, as skill sets are diverse.
Work with inside sales to quoting standards for modules, accessories, cabinets, and custom cabinet designs.
Utilizing Salesforce CRM for case and opportunity management.
Support project specification review and development.
Technical and application training development for training team, support teams and sales personnel as required.
Individual Maintenance of extensive product portfolio and application expertise.
Create white papers and case stories to support technical development of colleagues and marketing materials.

Background & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field (BSEET or BSME)
5+ years in a relevant focus area for technical sales support of VFD's and power conversion equipment, such as Electrification, Heavy Industry,
