POSITION DUTIES

The Alcohol\r
and Drug Certified Associate Counselor, assesses all incoming inmates in a\r
designated institution for substance abuse problems and to provide counseling,\r
intervention, and treatment and rehabilitation services to those inmates with\r
substance abuse disorder(s). This may also include inmates that are dually\r
diagnosed.\r
�\r
Such services may include, but are not limited\r
to, the following:\r
\r
� Perform\r
screening as needed on inmates entering the institution utilizing the TCU Drug\r
Screen 5. Score the instrument and complete the Screening and Assessment Result\r
form documenting the results and provide the form to case management. Maintain\r
original testing instrument in treatment files.\r
� Assess inmates as needed using the TAP to\r
identify inmates needing substance abuse treatment services. Score and add the\r
results of the TAP to the Screening Assessment Result form and provide to case\r
management. Develop inmate files to maintain original testing instruments.\r
� Provide substance abuse treatment on an\r
individual basis twice monthly and two group sessions a week for two groups\r
with approximately 15 members. Facilitate one aftercare services group weekly.\r
� Documentation of all group and individual notes\r
to include treatment plans and discharge summaries in inmate files.\r
� Maintain contact with internal and external\r
resources such as community based addiction providers in support of providing\r
aftercare services.\r
� Participation in continued professional\r
development through educational training.\r
� Completion of monthly statistics on substance\r
abuse treatment activities.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.�In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations , candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor. � \r
2.�Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.� Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.��\r

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations , Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.\r
