Leidos is seeking a skilled Distribution Engineer to join our Power Delivery Services Team. As a Distribution Engineer, you will be responsible for developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for our electric utility customers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems
- Collect field data to assist in developing work packages
- Review work provided by clients and assess requirements of scopes
- Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis, guying calculations, and voltage drop and flicker calculations
- Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
- Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial); and 2+ years of experience
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for customer-related travel
- Willingness to perform both field and office work
- Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
- Candidates with relevant experience working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing electric distribution design engineering
- Candidates with experience using distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc, or similar
