Provides food service, custodial, general labor or maintenance support for departments located off-campus (outside of the Greater Lansing area) Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Lead Cook, Conference Center, Kellogg Biological Station (Hickory Corners, MI)

Prepare catered meals from scratch in the McCrary Kitchen for up to 125 people. Cook will understand regional culinary expectations, American and Midwest US gastronomy and be able to produce basic recipes within generally accepted quality standards for the local restaurant industry. Must be able to work occasional evenings and occasional prep work on Sundays. Lead Cook will have and maintain a manager level certification in safe food handling and possess the ability to guide conference center staff in safe food handling practices.

Desired Qualifications
  • 5 plus years commercial food service experience
  • The ability to follow and produce recipes in English
  • Have Reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass and maintain a manager level food handling certificate
  • Ability to work standing up for 2 hours at a time
