POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides strategic leadership to the Information Technology teams/individuals responsible for maintaining technology infrastructure systems (wired and wireless networks, servers, virtual environments, and voice communications). DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and supervision

  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership for all IT operations related to network, server, and voice communications infrastructure
  • Supervises, mentors, and evaluates a wide variety of information technology employees with varying specialties; manages employees working on project teams
  • Prioritizes and assigns enterprise-critical work based on business need, customer impact, and resource availability
  • Establishes methods and processes for providing high quality customer service
  • Acts as a technology resource for college committees and work groups

Network infrastructure

  • Guides the structure, maintenance, and security of wired and wireless network infrastructure
  • Determines placement and configuration of network hardware (such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, etc.)
  • Collaborates with vendors to achieve a responsible balance of quality of service, redundancy, security, and cost
  • Ensures that information security best practices are in place for the college's network architecture


Virtual, cloud, and physical presence oversight

  • Guides the placement, configuration, and maintenance of onsite and cloud-based servers used for college business operations
  • Oversees the college's central data center as well as network closets throughout the district
  • Manages college hardware and infrastructure at remote or contracted sites


Voice communications

  • Guides the selection, deployment, and maintenance of voice communications systems, including hard and soft telephones
  • Manages internal billing for voice communication services


Department responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other IT managers to achieve business goals and meet—or exceed—customer expectations
  • Provides leadership and strategic/tactical planning within the areas of responsibility
  • Assists with budget planning, execution, and oversight
  • Maintains high levels of technical expertise on technology systems and hardware within the areas of responsibility
  • Uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions
  • Ensures security, confidentiality, accuracy, and reliability of the college's data and property

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in an information technology field

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is a 100%, 12-month exempt assignment of the D1 band and grade
  • This position has a 1-year probationary period
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
