About the Position:

The materials coordinator chemical will work with the Purchasing team on agreements, bid evaluations, consignments with suppliers, and reducing on hand inventories to support the Supply team functions.

The incumbent will oversee SAP inventory management, maintenance, repair, and operation (MRO) inventory, receiving, and related processes for both Engineering and Instrument/Electrical Storerooms.

The associate will provide ongoing training for all facility associates on MRO, raw material, and packaging procedures.

This position will have responsibility for overseeing the raw material and critical storeroom processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage plant inventory systems through supplier and departmental communications. Partner with Purchasing and Accounting to support Supply Chain functions. Partner with these departments on agreements, bid evaluations, supplier conformance, vendor evaluations, vendor improvement projects, and reduction of on hand inventory.
  • Oversee the SAP inventory management, MRO, receiving, and related processes for both Engineering and Instrument/Electrical Storerooms. Provide ongoing training for all facility associates on MRO and raw materials.
  • Code MRO store items in SAP.
  • Order necessary chemicals based on demand and usage.
  • Maintain open communication with Operations and Technical teams on issues/changes to the production plan and daily expectations.
  • Monitor storeroom and raw material deliveries, to include updating RC transfers.
  • Manage fluctuations in consumption by reviewing shift report/inventory spreadsheet for actual usage.
  • Maintain/Distribute vendor forecasts and blanket purchase orders (POs). Maintain vendor communications for parts and raw materials.
  • Conduct first work day close, along with accounting month end inventory counts and close. Process the month end movement report, comparing the numbers in SAP system against the physical counts, and filing appropriate raw material paperwork.
  • Answer and/or correct inquiries on purchase orders and invoices concerning raw materials.
  • Process invoices as necessary in transportation management system (TMS) and or SAP/vendor invoice management (VIM) and manage past due PO's.
  • Conduct weekly non bulk raw materials counts.
  • Expedite parts and raw materials (as necessary).
  • Responsible for repair and return process, MRO returns, and Material Master updates.
  • Meet internal and external customer needs through management of the MRO/supplier process as well as raw materials.
  • Ensure that all corporate and local facility raw material/MRO inventory policies are followed.
  • Coordinate purchases and vendor sources.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or in lieu of degree 8 or more years of materials management, materials coding processing, and supplier relations
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Inventory Management, Purchasing, or Supply Chain desired.

Experience:

  • 3 or more years of experience in materials management, materials coding processing, and supplier relations
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemical manufacturing
  • Experience in maintenance, storeroom layouts, organization, and bar coding Desired
  • Experience supervising others Desired

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage, train, and motivate people.
  • Ability to evaluate vendor performance.
  • Ability to write procedures, guidelines, and reports.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • A good functional understanding of SAP and Microsoft Office
