The Industrial Engineer (IE) - Warehouse and Racking assists with Network Planning, Supply Chain Optimization, Customer Transition/Remapping, M&A, Automation, and other corporate projects to identify, manage, maintain, and implement warehouse racking. They support projects tied to Customer Remapping, M&A, or other customer transition projects where customers are to be served by new or different distribution centers. The IE assesses storage and racking in US Foods warehouses and recommends solutions to improve process flow, storage capacity, warehouse staffing, and ensures racking is up to local and national safety code. The IE leads the implementation process to instill best practices in storage operations and their corresponding policies, procedures, and systems within the assigned US Foods region. The IE oversees the training facilitation and implementation process within assigned divisions.

This position is virtual/remote which means the work can be completed from Anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies and recommends new racking or space options to improve storage capacity, warehouse operations efficiency, and safety.
  • Assesses existing warehouse racking structures and provides recommendation to rerack on safety, process, and new racking.
  • Completes on-site visits and provides investment recommendations for potential acquisition sites, existing sites, automation projects, and new expansion sites.
  • Implements new racking and modifies existing racking in warehouse receiving, put-aways replenishment, selection, and loading.
  • Supports center-led supply chain optimization projects in warehouse automation, slotting, facility layout, customer mapping and remapping, and recommends most efficient and cost-effective room design, racking and slotting, ensuring that implementations proceed smoothly and on schedule.
  • Partners with Network Planning, Excellence, Continuous improvement, and division staff to train warehouse and delivery staff in efficient and safe work methods.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in work methods, racking usage and maintenance, efficiency techniques and warehouse management software.
  • Functions as a mentor and adviser to divisional personnel within these areas.
  • Consistently monitors and analyzes warehouse and delivery operations within assigned divisions to measure warehouse capacity metrics, ensure successful implementation and identify new opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Develops Request-for-proposal (RFP) documents and maintains high level relations with vendors throughout the course of implementation and on a go forward basis to maintain the relationship.
  • Coordinates with local/regional facility partners to ensure proper installation, labeling, elevations, and completion of the project.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Network Planning, M&A, Supply Chain Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Division Leaders and Staff, Finance, HR, IT, Indirect Procurement, Facilities Management, Engineering, Real Estate, WMS Integration Team, and Construction.
  • External : Manages the relationship with Racking and construction vendors, consultants.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Remote : This role is fully remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a home-based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of experience designing and implementing a new build of a warehouse, or a full warehouse redesign
  • Experience justifying and presenting capital expenditures for new equipment to Senior Leadership.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD software or similar software.
  • Strong project management skills, including running a project using a Gantt Chart with multiple partners and stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills using and a fact- and- data-based approach.
  • Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Software
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, a firm understanding of Lean principles, process flow, minimal constraint design principles.
  • High level of interpersonal skills.
  • Up to 75% travel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work experience designing and implementing a new build of a warehouse, or a full warehouse redesign in the cold chain or food distribution industry
  • Proficient with: Red Prairie, Blue Yonder, and/or SAP
  • Experience interfacing with OSHA or local safety regulators
  • Experience with warehouse automation such as ASRS, Conveyor systems, Automatic Palletizer technologies
  • Experience writing queries using SQL
  • Experience in the food distribution industry
  • Experience working with union employees

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, business, supply chain, or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering preferred

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Colorado, the expected compensation for this role is between $85,100.00 and $113, In New York, the expected compensation for this role is between $80,300.00 to $126, In California and Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $90,000.00 and $120,00.00. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
