Lead Family Support Worker - Bilingual Required

Academic Req:

Required - Bachelor's or undergraduate degree from an accredited Program/university, preferably in one of the following areas: social work, psychology, criminal justice, sociology,or related field of study;

Preferred - Graduate degree from accredited program/university in a related field

Certifications:

First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention

Work experience:

Required - One (1) year of related experience and/or training including experience working in crisis intervention;

Preferred - Experience in working with immigrant populations, child welfare, and managerial experience.

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
1. Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
2. Supervise FSWs in accordance with agency policies and procedures and licensing and contract standards.
3. Participate in workshops, seminars, education programs and other activities that promote professional growth and development.
4. Maintain monthly contact with foster families to include quarterly monitoring visits.
5. Engage and involve foster families to ensure compliance with state and federal standards.
6. Organize monthly foster parent support group to include invitations, agenda, sign-in sheets, and distribution of related tasks.
7. Continually assess ongoing issues with staff and foster homes to include change in behavior, circumstances or conditions that may affect child safety.
8. Demonstrate team support by helping FSW's learn how to provide feedback and support to foster families in crisis; Support FSW's in learning how to address families' needs through the best possible supports and conduct follow ups as needed to ensure risk is reduced and compliance is maintained.
9. Learn all appropriate documentation requirements and guidelines to compile, prepare, submit and maintain accurate records, files, forms, statistics and additional information in accordance with agency policies, licensing and/or contract requirements.
10. Monitor and approve compliance reviews and documentation of services by FSW's to include monthly documentation, per diems and expense reports.
11. Learn to support, train, and assist FSW's to perform their essential functions and role specific OJT training; Complete individual staffing, case consultations, and file audits with FSW's at a frequency required by governing entities and as needed.
12. Regularly report status of families and supervisees, including achievements, challenges and/or concerns to supervisor.
13. Participate in weekly staff meetings with fellow team members.
14. Participate in recruitment activities as a member of the foster care team.
15. Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
16. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with foster families, children, and other staff in case of an emergency.
17. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
18. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Ensuring that FSW's schedule all required home visits, monitor, and approve compliance reviews and documentation of services for assigned caseload.
2. Act as a liaison with stakeholders, as necessary.
3. Provide guidance on crisis calls and provide support to families in crisis as needed.
4. Participate in weekly face to face or phone supervision with supervisees.
5. Frequently travel from one location to another within the office and to foster homes as needed.
6. Meet all deadlines required by National Home Development Director and federal/state partners.
7. Foster Care Programs - Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.

Requirements:
1. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
2. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
3. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
4. Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
b. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
c. Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
d. Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
e. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
f. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
5. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
