While we have been improving lives of HIV patients for 30 years, this is an especially exciting time to be at ViiV, as we evaluate novel approaches to treatment and prevention that could further reduce the impact of HIV on individuals and communities.

The Payer Medical Science Liaison Director, Field Excellence is a hybrid role requiring both payer customer field engagement and strategic input/content development expectations. The successful candidate possesses, or is willing to acquire, the skills needed to engage in scientific dialogue that includes clinical, scientific, value, real world evidence, quality strategies, and outcomes data with external experts, population-based decision makers (PBDMs), and other health care professionals. Additionally, candidate will be expected to ensure delivery of value communication content used by the pMSL team for engaging population-based decision makers (PBDM) in support of ViiV's marketed and pipeline HIV products. This would require close collaboration with the Payer Medical Science Liaison (pMSL) team, medical therapeutic area/matrix partners including US Health Outcomes, and commercial market access/brand strategy teams.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Serve as the first-line ViiV payer medical point of contact for territory tbd. This region will include prioritized regionally-based and or national PBDMs (i.e. Health Systems/Integrated Delivery Networks, Health Plans, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), or Specialty Pharmacies (SPs).
  • Work closely with the Regional/National Account Executive (RAE/NAE) teams to identify and appropriately engage medical influencers/decision makers within each account.
  • Partner effectively with ViiV Field Medical Matrix partners (MSLs, CMLs, RMDs to meet PBDMs need for specialized or deep therapeutic area, product, or other scientific expertise.
  • Engage in credible and transparent scientific information exchange to build stronger, trusting relationships.
  • Deliver affirmative presentations to HCPs and formulary decision makers within the scope allowed by the MSL Practice Policy.
  • Respond to documented unsolicited requests from assigned US PBDMs (off-label and on-label) for scientific and health outcomes information, including pipeline presentations. Maintain and respond to standing requests for medical information.
  • Collect medical Voice of the Customer (mVOC) feedback from US PBDMs in a manner consistent with VIIV HEALTHCARE Principles for Scientific Engagement and the US Medical Affairs Practice Policy. Strategy & Value Communications
  • Inform and represent the HIV needs of PBDM customers with internal partners including strategic and operational planning; evidence, content, medical voice of customer (mVOC), etc.
  • Lead the development of payer-relevant value evidence/communication tools (e.g. primarily slide decks) informed through field team, matrix partner, external customer feedback, ad boards, etc.
  • Train the pMSL team on communication materials
  • Work closely with the pMSL Sr. Director to support the key field operational needs such as team meetings, coverage map, access updates, etc.


Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Pharm D or PhD or M.P.H. or M.S. & 3+ years of experience working with US Payer OR 5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical setting
  • Knowledge of government, US Payer and integrated system relationships
  • Experience identifying opportunities for medical engagement and developing strategic customer engagement and communication plans for PBDMs
  • Experience building relationships across customers and internal matrix partners as well as lead/inform key decision makers


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Area of Specialization: Pharmacy, Managed Care, Public Health, Health Administration, Pharmacoeconomics, etc.
  • 3+ years relevant scientific experience in HIV;
  • Direct experience in a payer and/or managed care environment is preferred.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain a command of a large amount of scientific and health outcomes/economic information across multiple therapeutic areas and show effective written/verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated customer-focus, problem solving abilities and solution-oriented.
