Build the future of employee leave

We're tackling the complex world of employee leave. Today, it's fascinating and baffling how complicated the process is: going on leave (be it parental, medical, bereavement, or for any other reason) means talking to reps and wading through a mountain of government and insurance claims just to get your time off and income in moments when you're the most stressed and busy. We talked to hundreds of employees and employers who had nightmare stories to tell, and wondered to ourselves why nobody had solved this yet.

Our mission is to take the work out of leave — removing all of the friction that exists today for both employees and employers — and be the #1 advocate for folks going through the process. It's a really exciting space, and we're moving incredibly fast on both product and user momentum.

Excited about taking the most frustrating insurance, banking, and finance processes out there and making them surprisingly delightful? We'd love to work with you.

What will you do?

We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Senior Operations Associate to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Operations Associate, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, supporting company growth initiatives, and ensuring that operational processes are scalable, efficient, and aligned with the company's strategic objectives. You will implement scalable organizational structures, drive process improvements, and provide data-driven insights for decision making. Additionally, you will provide leadership and guidance to junior members of the operations team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

  • Ability to lead well-scoped but ambiguous projects and quickly adapt to new situations and pivot when necessary in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Capability to identify issues and develop effective solutions in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processes through meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication between cross-functional and leadership teams
  • Ability to analyze data and derive insights to optimize operations.
  • Efficiently managing projects, setting timelines, and coordinating tasks.
  • Ability to lead teams or projects, delegate tasks, motivate, and mentor team members.
  • Training new team members as well as mentoring cross-functional teams on op operational processes including leave pay.
  • Familiarity with relevant software, tools, and platforms used in operations management
  • Work with leadership to develop team strategy, organizational structure, communication protocols, and reporting.

You'd be a great fit if you are:

  • Willing and eager to learn about technical details of product
  • You have experience with leave of absence in a multistate capacity
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to hold team members accountable for deadlines and deliverables
  • Experience leading large operations improvement projects to increase business efficiency and reduce risk
  • Experience owning and tracking key operational metrics across business and technical teams to make data-driven recommendations for long-term strategy
  • Familiarity with project management and/or dashboarding tools such as Airtable, Hubspot Metabase, etc.

Success in the role looks like:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Ability to create order out of chaos and proactively identify and solve problems
  • Ability to craft clear project proposal documents, PowerPoint slides, and spreadsheets
  • Once fully onboarded, ability to lead projects end to end and function as a subject matter expert for engineering, product and design teams.

Some benefits you can expect as a part of the Cocoon team:

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Unlimited vacation and sick time
  • Professional development budget
  • Office setup and wellness stipends
  • 14 weeks of paid parental leave
  • 4 weeks of each paid medical and caregiver leave
  • 4 weeks of flexible, paid compassionate leave
  • Flexible work schedule

The salary for this role is $125,000.
