At GoDaddy, the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is a remote position, so you'll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or offsites.

We're looking for a strongly driven software engineer who loves web technologies like Javascript, Node, and Python. You will be a helping build out GoDaddy's GoCentral site builder suite, leveraging horizontal scaling solutions such as Nginx, NodeJS, Redis, PostgreSQL, Python, and the latest browser frameworks like React.

The GoDaddy Website Builder team is responsible for extending our Website Builder with new customer-facing website features (a.k.a. "widgets" – such as blog, calendar, and testimonials). These are the primary features for driving sales and reducing customer churn and will maintain a scalable architecture that impacts millions of Small Business owners, and that we are developing into one of the largest Node/React applications in the industry.

This product group is one of the key strategic pillars of GoDaddy, with an important contribution to the company's revenue, customer growth and innovation.

What you'll get to do...

  • Building great products that help small businesses succeed online.
  • Working closely with PM, UX, and data scientists to question the limitations for creating magical user experiences.
  • Writing code using modern frameworks, including JavaScript, React/Redux and Node/Express
  • Writing highly-scalable, highly-available, cloud-ready applications.
  • Solving end-to-end problems.
  • Testing code (e.g. writing functional and unit tests)
  • Embracing Agile methodologies to continuously release and deploy iterations of our services.
  • Adopting DevOps methodologies for enabling and supporting always-on services
  • Collaborate with customers and support agents to understand the needs of our customers.
  • A strong understanding how you can assist our customers in accomplishing their goals every day.
  • Establish critical metrics to ensure product and customer success.
  • Demonstrate a positive demeanor and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with changing needs.
  • Development of new functionalities in the Website + Marketing site builder.
  • Development of new sections (aka widgets), new templates (aka themes) that users can add to their websites or choose as new styles to change the appearance of their site.
  • Writing and maintaining quality codes in JavaScript, Node.JS, React.JS, CSS and more.
  • Development and enhancements to the Design System language used in the dynamic sites generated for our customers, allowing for great possibilities for our customers.
  • Fixing bugs and developing UI improvements to existing functionality to maintain user satisfaction.
  • Monitoring of existing back-end services to ensure good functioning of existing systems.
  • Performance investigations and implementation (regarding website load speed specifically).
  • Maintenance and refactoring of existing code base and reduction of technical debt to ensure flawless functioning of applications and facilitate developer productivity.
  • Supporting and mentoring new team members.

Your experience should include...

  • 3+ years of experience building products and services.
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript, NodeJS, ReactJS and other standard web technologies (HTTP, CSS, JSON etc.)
  • Experience testing code and using test frameworks.
  • Good foundation in data structures, algorithms, software designs, microservices, and cloud computing.
  • Demonstrates a strong desire to develop groundbreaking solutions for real-world business problems.
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Highly motivated, highly collaborative individuals
  • Excellent social, written, and verbal interpersonal skills. Strong writing skills with the ability to write clearly and quickly, explaining technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Passion to develop elegant and cutting-edge solutions for real-world small business problems.
  • You demonstrate a strong sense of curiosity and are always striving to improve your knowledge base.

You might also have...

  • BS/MS in a computer science, information system, UX or related field.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment.
