Job Overview

We are excited to announce an opening for the position of Senior Software Test Engineering Lead at Penn Mutual Life Insurance. Your daily responsibilities will involve working closely with diverse teams, including software developers, quality assurance analysts, technical leads, and product managers, to devise and implement robust testing strategies and automation frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in software development and test automation, complemented by exceptional communication skills that connect technical and business elements within the life insurance and annuity sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer architectural direction and mentorship to teams of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) and Quality Engineers to ensure successful software delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop test strategies, plans, and cases that align with business requirements and expectations.
  • Design and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for both frontend and backend processes, including automation across various systems.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance best practices throughout the Agile development lifecycle, from story analysis to continuous integration and deployment.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the life insurance domain, including regulatory requirements, data standards, and business processes for thorough test coverage.
  • Work alongside the development team on performance and security testing to identify and mitigate bottlenecks and vulnerabilities.
  • Generate test reports, monitor defects, and effectively communicate testing progress to stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Possess knowledge of various operating systems and troubleshoot OS-related issues.

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
  • Understanding of Git version control and GitHub.
  • Experience in Agile/DevSecOps and Cloud environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within a team environment.
  • Domain knowledge in life insurance and annuity products is advantageous.
  • Certifications such as ISTQB or CSQA are a plus.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in software development and quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Over 5 years of relevant experience in Web, API, and/or Mobile testing.
  • More than 5 years of automation experience with tools such as Tosca Commander, Selenium, Appium, CI/CD, and Jenkins.
  • At least 5 years of experience in test data management.
