The AgVenture General Manager oversees the success and growth of the overall AVI seed business and leads the current structure of six direct reports.

Functions reporting to the General Manager include Marketing Manager, Business Development Managers, Customer Service, Sales Logistics, and an Administrative Assistant.

What You'll Do:
\r

  • Develop and deliver annual sales objectives which align with U.S. financial targets. \r
  • In conjunction with marketing managers, develop longer view business plans that include market share growth, contribution margin improvement aligned with Corteva strategies. \r
  • Guide the organization through change management, remove obstacles and empower team to create demand. \r
  • Lead timely communication to ISC's to insure complete understanding of pricing, terms, programs, program deadlines, regulatory changes. \r
  • Be the face of the brand externally (customer facing) and internally (within Corteva). Establish trust both internally and externally, be visible and build relationships with top ISC's and customers. \r
  • Own the financial (current + 2) commitment of the brand and manage to the established goals, including resource management and growth in top line revenue and contribution margin. \r
  • Annually assess employee quality and fit, implement required coaching and changes for underperformers, and champion high performers for exposure within and beyond the brand. \r
  • Continue to develop professionally by remaining current with new and competitive technologies and participating in sales management development training. \r
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of associated Corteva products and services. \r
  • Manage territory expense budgets - including promotional, travel & entertainment and general business expenses. \r

QualificationsWhat You'll Need:
\r

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or other related field preferred with demonstrated knowledge of agricultural markets. \r
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. \r
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work with Independent Seed Companies, identify growth opportunities and solve issues quickly. \r
  • Minimum 10 years of sales and/or marketing experience with proven abilities to: \r
o Lead people successfully. \r
o Resolution Management \r
o Sell, negotiate, and influence. \r
o Creative thinking and problem-solving aptitude. \r

  • Lead/influence and coach individuals in accomplishing defined objectives/goals. \r
  • Willingness to learn, tact in challenging norms all while leaning into the strong Independent Seed Companies current business and supporting growth of corn and soybeans. \r
  • Ability to work independently and operate within a budget. \r
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization. (Senior Management to entry-level roles) \r
  • Work in and adapt to a rapidly changing environment. \r
  • Need to be visible through consistent use of Johnston office, critical in building staff rapport. \r
  • Ability to embrace brand heritage, while leading change, identifying growth opportunities, and executing against business plans. \r
  • Annually assess employee quality and fit, implement required changes for underperformers, and champion high performers for exposure within and beyond the brand. \r
  • Ability to travel overnight on an as needed basis. \r
  • Must have valid driver's license with a clean driving record. \r
