Job Description:
The Department of Natural Sciences, in the College of Undergraduate Studies at Immaculata University is soliciting applications for a full-time teaching postdoctoral fellow position to join our dynamic, collaborative team.
We encourage applications from scientists with a strong and diverse background in the life sciences who value undergraduate teaching and research. The position will be a 2-year appointment starting in August, 2024. Successful candidates will be expected to have some teaching experience but be interested in developing/expanding their teaching repertoire, and have a strong desire to involve undergraduates in research projects.
Duties:
Teaching (12 contact hours per semester)
Mentoring undergraduate student research (with the opportunity to apply for internal mini-grant funding of up to $1,000 to support their research)
Attendance at Departmental Meetings
Opportunities:
Teach in both lecture and laboratory settings, teach majors and non-majors courses, teach in various modalities.
Guidance in teaching/research from Immaculata Biology faculty.
Feedback and opportunities for self-reflection to develop your teaching credentials, such as classroom observations, student evaluations and faculty evaluation forms.
Participate in the academic life of the department by serving as an undergraduate research mentor, attending departmental meetings, and providing the opportunity to attend events through our Center for the Advancement of Scholarship, Teaching and Learning Excellence (CASTLE).

Requirements:
PhD in Biology or a closely related field with a demonstrated broad knowledge base in one or more subjects including Cellular Biology or Genetics, and interest in teaching majors and non-majors courses in these and related subjects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to establish a research program that will involve undergraduate students both in and out of the classroom environment.
Evidence of and commitment to: working with students from diverse backgrounds, capacity to utilize a range of effective, student-centered instructional strategies, and an openness to adopting new teaching strategies and accepting feedback.
