VOAMASS is seeking a local contract nurse for a 4 month contract nursing job in Boston, Massachusetts at our various residential recovery homes.What We Do through our powerful integrated behavioral health care model, we bring together vast resources from a diverse team of caring staff to help each client meet their personal goals. The care we provide paves the way for greater opportunity and second chances by focusing on the critical pillars towards a healthy life: behavioral health, financial stability, and safe housing.
Asa Residential Nurse,you'll have a dynamic and critical role , providing nursing care and support to individuals with co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use disorders) at our Residential Recovery Programs. As a Residential nurse, you will coordinate closely with program staff, PMHNP's and the Chief Medical Director, along with our integrated clinical care team to enhance the whole health of the people that we serve. This is a short term contract from April until August.
This role is about making a difference in the lives of the people we serve. You'll bring the following qualifications:
- An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in nursing with current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Massachusetts.
- Must have an ability and propensity to work with individuals with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.
- Must be willing to work at various locations across VOAMASS.(Boston, Dorchester and Jamaica Plain)
- Must have excellent patient-centered skills, communication skills, and crisis intervention skills.
Some of your critical responsibilities:
- Monitor and supervise overall medication monitoring practices and policies and monitor EHR medication management system to ensure proper medication ordering and administration.
- Review medication lists and documentation of medications being prescribed. Conduct medication reconciliations to ensure correct medications are being given.
- Provide nursing assessments, administer medication, collect vital signs, complete preventative care screening, as needed, and report on person served symptoms and collaborate with program staff and PMHNP's.
- Coordinate closely with program staff, other RN, PMHNP's and Chief Medical Director, PCP's, and external medical providers to enhance the whole health of the people that we serve.
- Provides support to PMHNP's prescribing practice of medication, completes insurance prior authorization and provides support to persons served in conjunction with providers.
- Serves as part of the integrated services care team and multidisciplinary review team to enhance persons served experiences and maintain agency compliance with state regulations and medical professional standards. Provides consultation and training to clinical staff as member of the integrated service team.
- Maintains records according to VOAMASS Policies and Procedures, completing all documentation in a timely manner.
