This position is located in the Nuclear Response Section of the Radiological Health Division of the Bureau of Land and Waste Management.

The individual will be responsible for performing administrative duties related to an in support of the radiological emergency response program.


Job Duties:
Assists in all aspects of office business management and financial activities, including SCEIS
Is responsible for all requisitions, contracts, and funding assignments in the procurement of supplies, equipment, utilities, contracts, and services
Performs office administrative duties; organizes, develops, and implements procedures for recording, routine sorting, distributing, and filing documentations, reports, correspondence, and administrative forms
Assists with management of grants (i.e., applications, accountability reports, budgets, spending, etc.)
Submits and tracks contracts through the Contract ManagementSystem

Serves as Property Custodian:
Maintains inventory of all supplies, furniture, and equipment; Ensures appropriate insurance coverage is maintained; Coordinates and tracks equipment maintenance, calibrations and repairs; Maintains records related to maintenance, repair, transfer, disposal, or sale of any equipment, furniture, or supplies in accordance with agency policies
Serves as Training and

Travel Coordinator:
Registers staff for training and conferences, and maintains training documentation (i.e., records of attendance/completion, travel/training requests, out-of-state travel requests, MySCLearning, etc.); Keeps staff informed of training requirements and opportunities

Serves as Fleet Coordinator:
Collects monthly vehicle mileage logs and reports to

State Fleet Management:
Tracks leased vehicle invoicing and ensures all vehicles meet State Fleet usage requirements; Coordinates repairs with local offices and/or

State Park Garage:
Assists with vehicle procurement; Maintains records related to duties as Fleet Coordinator
Serves as support to Nuclear Response Section activities during drills, exercises, and real-world events at assigned locations
Serves and participates as a member of the Department's Emergency Response Team subject to duty and/or on-call on a 24-hour basis during an emergency
Participates in required training
Performs other duties as required

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience

Additional Requirements:
Must be able to provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Must have excellent data management and organizational skills
Must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and encourage positive working relationships with coworkers, industry, and government officials
Must be able to work independently in an office environment
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must be able to successfully complete prescribed technical coursework and pass any test relevant to the position within the probationary period or trial period
Weekend, after hours , and holiday work may be required
Overnight travel may be required

This position is part of the South Carolina Department of Environmental Control's Bureau of Land and Waste Management.

The work performed supports DHEC's mission to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and the environment.

Effective July 1, 2024, this position will transfer to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services created by Senate Bill 399 which provides for the creation of the Department of Environmental Services to assume the environmental-related functions of DHEC.
