Associate Athletic Director/Athletic Trainer

Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Physical Education (K-12), the Associate Athletic Director/Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting with the management and organization of the Grades 7-12 athletic programs. This role is critical to supporting the health and wellbeing of students at UNIS. The specific duties include helping with day to day operations, implementing programmatic and administrative policies and procedures, and communicating with coaches. These duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Position Responsibilities:
The individual will be involved in the daily sports activities of the school and must assist the Director of Athletics and Physical Education to ensure the department operates efficiently by:
  • Organize and implement the contractual process for coaches each season by working with the Business Office and the Human Resources Department.
  • Oversee and assist with the management of coaches.
  • Assign practice/game times/locations for all teams.
  • Coordinate facilities used outside of UNIS.
  • Coordinate transportation of students to offsite practices and games.
  • Coordinate officials for interscholastic athletics home games.
  • Coordinate special events such as Sports Day, Student Awards, Senior Nights, Seasonal Assemblies, and College Signing Day.
  • Distribute and collect keys.
  • Attend Student Athletic Committee meetings.
  • Organize sports trips including fall pre-season trips and spring training.
  • Supervise the maintenance and care of athletic and physical education facilities.
  • Organize the uniform process including ordering, inventory, issue, return, and billing.
  • Organize the equipment process including ordering, inventory, and storage.
  • Manage the UNIS Athletics Website and Instagram account to promote school and community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
  • Assessing, reporting, treating, and referring student athlete's injuries.
  • Developing pre-habilitation and rehabilitation programs for teams and student-athletes.
  • Establishing systems and schedules to ensure that all UNIS interscholastic games are covered by athletic trainers.
  • Working collaboratively with senior leadership teams to design and implement best practice emergency plans for coaches and students.
  • Facilitating and monitoring compliance health management training for PE and Athletic coaching staff.
  • Maintaining first aid equipment and medical supplies for the department as required.
  • Promote high standards of sportsmanship, ethics, and personal conduct.
  • Assumes responsibilities of Athletic Director when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Athletics or related field
  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to exchange information and coordinate efforts with other parties
  • Strong organization skills, ability to manage a fast-paced work environment with several competing priorities, ability to prioritize work assignments, organize own schedule, perform routine work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to constantly changing demands
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office, Final Site, Google Forms, and Senior Systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of related technologies and excellent computing skills required
  • Ability to work flexible hours

Annual Salary Range: $85,000 to $100,000 (based on experience)
