THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE ABILITY TO TRAVEL BETWEEN DUTY STATIONS ACCORDING TO THE MEDICAL CENTER NEEDS.

Duties include but are not limited to the following description:


The clinical pharmacy specialist is responsible for oncology pharmacy care activities, including hazardous drug preparation activities and other specialty care clinics where oncological products are utilized.

Privileges will be granted to practice as a provider under the supervision of the chiefs, Oncology Service, as directed by the Chief, Pharmacy Service.

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining effective clinical pharmacy programs by implementing rational cost effective drug therapy to improve patient outcomes in the hematology/oncology clinic.

In this capacity, the clinical pharmacy specialist assists with clinical education activities, provides drug information, contributes to MUE activities, and provides support to the Medication Management Committee.

The clinical pharmacy specialist must be capable of using professional judgment and clinical expertise to solve complex problems and to provide clinical information to VA Connecticut Healthcare providers and Veterans.

Distributive responsibilities will be incurred in this position when appropriate.

Pharmacists assigned to this position must demonstrate the following KSAs:

Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management
Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards for their program area.

Ability to solve problems, coordinate and organize responsibilities to maximize outcomes in their program area or area of clinical expertise.

Expert knowledge of a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice or specialty area of pharmacy.

Advanced skill in monitoring and assessing the outcome of drug therapies, including physical assessment and interpretation of laboratory and other diagnostic parameters.

Work Schedule:
Primarily Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm and 7:00am-3:30pm.
