Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stationary Engineer to join our team at The Rockefeller University. The Watch Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of stationary engines, boilers, chillers and other mechanical equipment to provide utilities such as heating, cooling, and power for buildings and industrial processes.

Responsibilities

The Watch Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Operate and maintain high-pressure boilers, air conditioning systems, and related equipment
  • Monitor and adjust controls to regulate equipment and systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance on machinery and systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system components
  • Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff to optimize facility operations
  • Respond to emergencies and equipment failures promptly and effectively
  • Participate in energy conservation and sustainability initiatives
Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or training.
  • Valid NYC Stationary Engineer's License
  • Refrigeration System Operators Licenses
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of stationary engines and boilers
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis and ability to push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds, which includes lifting, pushing and/or pulling equipment.

Ability to work on ladders, scaffolds and to sit stand and walk for momentary to extended periods of time. Ability to work safely with hazardous materials. Must be able to work weekdays and/or weekends, evening and or night shifts.

May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts. Will be required to work as needed during disaster situations, ie. before, during or after a disaster.

Must maintain current licenses and/or certificates, if applicable

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
